Fire Razed Three-story Shop-house in Penjaringan

Fire gutted a four-story shop house owned by Ong Liong Kim (53) at Block OO No. 17, Duta Harapan Indah (DHI) Residential Complex, RT 08/02, Kapuk Muara Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-District, North Jakarta, Friday (6/20). There was no casualty reported in the incident, yet the loss reaches hundreds of millions rupiah.

Based on the information gathered, fire broke out around 4.07 PM. The incident occurred when sparks came out from an electrical panel on the third floor, and then flames quickly spread to other floors.

After getting report, North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department immediately deployed eight fire trucks to the scene. Luckily, the flames could be controlled in around 30 minutes.

After we put out the flames, firemen then cooling down the fire location in order to avoid unwanted things,” stated Head of North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Frans Hodden Silalahi.

According to Silalahi, to extinguish the fire, firemen had to take water from Angke River due to lack of water resources around the scene.
